This article is designed for both new and existing Qualee clients.
Before creating a Journey sequence, we highly recommend familiarizing yourself with how Journeys work to ensure the best possible experience and results.
To get started, please refer to this article: Introduction to Journeys
Once you're familiar with how Journeys work, this article will guide you through the steps to create a Journey sequence. Helping you build a structured, engaging experience for your employees.
What is a Journey Sequence
A Journey Sequence is a structured series of Journeys designed to create a seamless, automated flow of experiences across the employee lifecycle. It enables you to link multiple Journeys together, triggering them in a specific order based on defined conditions — such as timing or the completion of a previous Journey. This ensures that employees receive the right information or actions at the right time, without the need for manual intervention.
Difference between a Single Journey and a Journey Sequence
Single Journey
A Single Journey is a standalone experience designed to guide an employee through a specific process or milestone—such as onboarding, training, compliance, or role transitions. It consists of a series of sequential steps that are scheduled and delivered independently, based on the availability settings configured within the Journey itself.
*Ideal for One-time or standalone experience. One Journey at a time experience.

Journey Sequence
A Journey Sequence connects multiple Single Journeys into a structured, automated flow. Each Journey in the sequence is triggered based on conditions like completion of the previous Journey or a specific time delay. This allows for a seamless, end-to-end employee experience across different phases of the employee lifecycle—without requiring manual activation.
*Ideal for End-to-end, multi-stage experience. Structured and continuous experience

Assign Journeys (optional) to a recipient. By Default, the Journeys are assigned to the Sequence invitee. You may also assign the Journey to one or more people using the following format below:
Specific Segment Value
Department e.g. "Human resources"
Team e.g. "Leadership Team"
Location e.g "Singapore"
Gender names e.g. "Male"
Personalized tokens (associated records)
Invitee's manager = "{manager.name}"
Invitee's buddy = "{buddy.name}"
Invitee's team = "{team.name}"
Specific employee / user names e.g. John Doe
Email addresses e.g [email protected] / [email protected]

Note:
Whether you're building a complex Journey Sequence or a simple series of Journey flows, they will only appear in the employee's app dashboard based on the schedule you've configured. This helps prevent overwhelming employees with too many tasks at once and ensures a focused experience.
For Journey Sequences that includes multiple participants e.g. Managers, Buddies or any individual other than a direct invitee is assigned to a Journeys that's a part of a Sequence, their Journeys would appear depending on when the configured schedule.
Available immediately - Whether the Journey is assigned to an employee or a manager, the Journey will be available once the the prior Journey is completed
Before / After start date - References to the direct invitee's start date
After last Journey - References the time when a prior Journey is completed by either a direct invitee or people assigned in the Journey(s)
Important note:
A Single Journey and its steps and a Journey Sequence and its Journeys has its own availability control.
However the Journey Sequence's availability settings take priority over the Single Journey's availability.
For example, if a Single Journey's step is available 30 days before start date, and that Single Journey is added in a Sequence wherein the said Single Journey is configured to be available 15 days after start date, the later configuration supersedes the original availability.
Tracking & Monitoring Journey Sequences
There are several options available to monitor and track a Journey Sequence progress, depending on how detailed a view you'd prefer
Option A. Via Journey Sequence List page
*Best for comparing multiple Journey sequence completion rate
Option B. Via Journey Sequence > Participant tracking page
*Best for comparing multiple Journey sequence participants
Option C. Via Journey Sequence > Participant > Individual participant view
*Best for viewing individual completion of Journeys on an employee level
Option D. Via Journey Sequence Dashboard
*Best for monitoring performance by Journey within a Journey Sequence
Journey Sequence participants who are assigned in a Single Journey that's a part of a Sequence can be monitored and tracked directly in the Single Journeys page in whichever Journey they are assigned to.
